I am beginning to think back to being a little girl and picturing my wedding. It's funny, because when I was younger my wedding seemed like a distant dream and now it's only 7 months away!!! I also think it's funny that when you are dreaming about your wedding, you don't really consider all of the work and planning that goes into it.......although most of it is fun, it can be exhausting and stressful. I am so thankful to have the best fiance, Mom, family (hi Jordan!), soon to be in-laws and of course friends. I don't know what I would without all of them!
As for the update, we have chosen our caterer. Morrison's will be doing the food. We are going with a heavy appetizer set up, which basically means that there will be 10-12 different appetizers on tables and being passed around. I like this set up the best because I LOVE appetizers, and also because I feel like people will be able to graze and drink and visit and dance and graze without having to worry about waiting in a long line for their dinner! Some of the appetizer selections will include (but will not be limited to) prawn cocktail, crostini, sliced tri-tip, fruit and stuffed mushrooms.
The DJ thing is becoming a little daunting. I really wanted the DJ that did my cousins wedding in June to do ours, but he is already booked for May 31st, so that is out. I called a local guy who has done several weddings at our venue, and he was very nice (I've also seen him DJ at other events and like his style). However, I'm beginning to learn that you get what you pay for, and he is a little expensive. The main thing about our DJ is that they are going to need a silent generator for the ceremony as it will be held on top of a hill in the middle of a vineyard.......I'm going to make some more calls this week to other DJ's and equipment rental places.
Last but not least (and quite frankly, the most exciting thing!), is that I have found my dress. It's a little hard to describe, but overall it's a satin material that is a sheath style. It just so happens that the bridal shop here in town has it and will order it for me. They also do all of their alterations at no charge when you purchase a dress from them. I think it will be super convenient to be able to go for my fittings here in town rather than all the way to Sacramento or the Bay Area.
That's the update for now. Hopefully soon I will have some news about save-the-dates and favors (my cousin may have convinced me to do them, but I will be recruiting her for help!!!).

Things to check off the list!
What a busy weekend!!!! It started with Matt and I going to look at RH Phillips as a possible location for the ceremony and reception. Upon arriving, we were immediatly "sold". There is a hill that is beautifully landscaped and overlooks the valley for the ceremony - our pictures are going to turn out great!! Another plus was that the date we wanted was available, so May 31st is the official date!
After going to RH Phillips, my Mom and I did a little shopping. It was a very productive trip, and we got all of the gifts for my bridesmaids as well as all of our centerpieces!! (Check, check!)
We also found someone that will marry us. His name is Paul and he is a friend of Matt's Dad. We have met him before, and have seen him marry another couple and like his mello attitude.
Last but not least, some of the girls and I went shopping yesterday. I am beginning to HATE shopping for a wedding dress as a lot of the "in" styles right now are hideous! Needless to say, I did not find my dress, but I did pick out a bridesmaid dress.
All in all, I feel like for only having been engaged two weeks we have gotten a lot done. The next things on my list are a caterer, a DJ and the honeymoon!

A few details...
So we looked at our first venue option last night. It did not turn out as well as I had hoped. The venue was Wild Horse Golf Club in Davis. Matt and I were super excited to go and see it, as the pictures that were posted on their website looked great, and the prices we had been quoted were unbeatable! Well, upon arriving we first looked at where the reception would be held. It was an indoor/outdoor space, with a beautiful covered patio and a nice view of the golf course. Now the disappointing part was that there wasn't really any where to have the ceremony. Our options would be to have it at the edge of the patio, no aisle as our guests would sit at the tables set up for the reception (I want an aisle!!!!). The other option would be to have the ceremony on a patch of grass located behind the golf cart garage. Now, this would be acceptable, but along the edge of this patch of grass is a golf cart path......we really don't care to have golf carts zooming by as we say our vows!!! So, all in all, it was a nice thought but after having seen the site in person and getting all the details I don't think that this will be the spot. We are meeting with an event coordinator at RH Phillips tomorrow and are also looking into the Yolo Fliers Club.
On a separate note, we have chosen our wedding colors to be black and white. The flowers will be red and yellow. I like the idea of black and white because I think it will look classy. And I have chosen Calla Lillies as the type of flower.

It's started.....
So it finally happened....Matt and I are now engaged! Starting from the beginning, we had been planning to take the boat out on October 6 just the two of us and I was super excited! Not because I thought anything like this would happen, I was just ready to relax. Well, we did go out on the American River and that's where he popped the question. He got down on his knee, pulled the ring in it's box out and asked, "Will you make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife?" I was so excited and surprised that I didn't even answer until he said, "Well will you?". Of course I said yes!
And now, it has started. The wedding planning. It's really kind of fun for the most part, and so far I really do not think that I am a Bridezilla, I can only hope that it stays that way. Right now we are hoping to set a date for the end of May 2008, but ultimately it will depend on where we decide on for the venue. Better hurry up and make some decisions, if May is the time then we only have 8 months!!!
