Wednesday Love

Head over to Jamie's blog to share your loves!

This week, I'm loving.....

...that I have moved up an additional 14 spots on the nursing school wait list, meaning that I now am sitting pretty at spot 109. Fingers crossed that I can start in January!!

...that we had a wonderful time camping this last weekend at Bullard's Bar. A little R&R with camping and some time on the lake is just what the doctor ordered!

...that I am making grilled artichokes and salmon for dinner tonight.

...that this Sunday is the baby shower for my friend Tandy. I've got so many cute things for it, I can't wait!

...as always, my amazing hubby. Love you babe!!

Friday Randomness...

....with bullets. Because in my mind, randomness = bullets:
  • Our week has mostly revolved around the house, as per usual. I'm okay with that. It's going to be amazing when it's done. Updated to come next week WITH PICTURES!
  • I got some new running shoes yesterday. I'm excited to run in them tomorrow. Training for the half marathon that I'm running begins on July 30th.
  • A few weeks ago, I purchased a blackberry phone. I love it. That is all.
  • We're sneaking in a little fun this weekend, and Matt and I are both excited and ready. I plan to blog about it next week, but until then I have three words: water, beer, barbecue.
  • Nursing school update: last night, I was talking with Matt about the wait list that I'm on at the local community college. Here's how it works - you get accepted into the program and are placed on a wait list. Each semester, 60 students are taken off of the wait list as they begin the nursing program. I applied to said program in February and was 189 on the list. Over the last 5 months, I have moved up to slot 123 on the list. This means that when the 60 students begin the program next month, I'll move up at least 60 spots to 63. And since I've moved up a total of 66 slots these last few months, I don't see why I wouldn't move up at least 2 spots to be able to start in January. Go me! That was long winded, sorry.
And finally, because I want to include a picture with this post, I leave you with where I wish I was RIGHT NOW!!!!

Ten points if you know where this is......

HAPPY FRIDAY : )

Fourth of July

We took the Fourth off from working on the house to enjoy a day of swimming, grilling, fireworks, and family. That weekend was actually a really busy one with a birthday dinner for Gram, a "date afternoon" for Matt and I (this included swimming and drinking a few beers alone on the back patio), an afternoon of swimming with friends that continued into an evening BBQ, and finally a get together on the actual Fourth at my Aunt's home. I was intelligent enough to take the 5th off, and boy am I glad I did!

House Progress

Things keep moving right along with the house. Framing walls has begun and floor joists were rolled on Saturday. Hopefully the plywood will be placed on the joists this week and the second story will be framed within the next week or two! Very exciting to see it start to take shape.

Even HUGER beam!!!

Just in case you were wondering...

...I have tons to post about, but not the pictures to go with the post. Hopefully tomorrow. In the meantime, here's some randomness about me!

  • I hate when my feet are dirty. Camping is a nightmare for me. Baby wipes are wonderful.
  • If I had to eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be crab.
  • I'm a water girl. River, pool, ocean, lake, pond...you name it, I'll swim in it.
  • My Dad died when I was 17. That was 9 years ago and there still isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him.
  • I am a recipe addict. I print gazillions off the Internet and can sit and read cookbooks for hours.
  • Sometimes, I let other peoples expectations of me become too much of a priority. My husband is just as bad with this. We're working on it.
  • My favorite color is red.
  • I don't like donuts, waffles, pancakes, or pastries. Show me the bacon!
  • My Mom loves Elvis. Because of this I can sing every one of his songs, word for word.
  • Watching trashy reality television is my vice. Love me some Teen Mom, Jersey Shore and Housewives!
  • I love babies. LOVE THEM. (as long as they're not mine - for now)
  • Someday, I will have a Yorkshire Terrier.
  • I cannot wait to be a nurse.
  • Getting a pool in our backyard is a goal that I think I've talked Matt into : )
  • My husband, brother and mom mean the world to me!

Fill in the Blank!

A new Friday link up via The Little Things We Do!

1. The best news I ever received was... thus far (besides the news that Matt wanted to be my husband when he proposed!), it would be my acceptance to nursing school.
2. Something I'm looking forward to is... short term - my four day weekend looming ahead. 3 hours and counting! Long term - finishing our house.
3. Something I would never do is... scuba dive. Love the ocean, just not being submerged in it.
4. If I could choose someone to be my life coach (famous or not, living or dead), I'd choose... my Dad. He was an amazing man with a good grasp of every one's opinions mattering. I wish I could be as open minded as he always was.
5. If I had to put a label on my style it would be... casual classic. I love me some jeans, t-shirts and flip flops. And when I need to sport a dressier look I'm always drawn to the little black dress.
6. One should always be... reflective of themselves.
7. I want to take a trip to... the Florida Keys! I have a goal of seeing more of the U S of A, and figure why not start somewhere with good beaches and cocktails.
