More stuff...

So we just got our engagement photos back, and they all turned out really well. I was so excited to see them and I know that our wedding photos will be just as fabulous. I really like our photographer and am excited to work with him!

We also registered yesterday at Target. It took us about an hour and a half. We didn't cover all of the departments that I had hoped, but by the time we left Matt was completely over the whole shopping thing, so I figure I can go back on my own or add stuff online.

We also decided that we want to have our rehearsal dinner at Ludy's on the patio. I love it in the evening when they turn the lights on and I also think that the water feature they have on the patio is cool. I think it will be a great atmosphere!

Besides all of the above, I am trying to finalize how I want the invitations to be worded. After that's done then I will be ordering them.

Am I missing something?

As you know from reading previous posts, most of our planning is well under way. We have decided on the date, the place, the caterer, the DJ, the photographer, my dress, the bridesmaids dresses, the flowers, the centerpieces, the color scheme, the bridesmaids gifts and the invitations.......

So now, I am actually a little sad. It's not that I am not excited to be getting married, and to ultimately have Matt as my husband. I think I'm just disappointed that the planning has gone so quickly. I guess that's the price that you pay for pulling a wedding off in less than 8 months.....I was just telling Carrie the other day that it hasn't really hit me yet that I am a BRIDE!!!!! I know that I am getting married, it just doesn't feel like I am a bride for some reason. Maybe it's because I've chosen the low key route for everything, which I still think is better than being a Bridezilla (but of course that is subject to change - just a warning!).

The upcoming events would be our engagement photos, which are scheduled for this Sunday at 3:00. It's kind of funny, because when Matt and I saw the weather forecast last night, it said rain was expected all day on Sunday. Now, I think most brides would be freaking out about it, but me? Not so much! They can always be re-scheduled, and throwing a fit won't change the weather : ) I am also going to be ordering our invitations soon. The are simple, square, white invites with an embossed double border and embossed writing. I haven't picked the style of the lettering yet, but the designing of the invitations has been pretty fun so far. Another thing that I am starting to think about more is the rehearsal dinner. Hopefully I will have updates on all of the above soon!

Do I know you?

Okay, first off, the wedding plans are still going really well. Not much news, we're just getting all of the deposits to the appropriate persons. Left on the list is planning the honeymoon, rehearsal dinner, securing a photographer, and the invitations.

Speaking of the invitations, has anyone that has ever planned a wedding noticed how people come crawling out of the wood work when they want to be included in an event? Seriously, I am getting SO SICK of the, "Well I KNOW I'm invited!" and the, " When is it so I can save the date?". Come on guys, I haven't talked to you in years, why would I invite you to such an intimate event if you're not part of my life anymore? And I also get that parents do want to have a part of the guest list reserved for some that they would like present, fine. However, when some of those people (one in particular) only have rude comments to make and are clearly gossiping viciously why would Matt and I want them to share our day with us?

I swear, I am to the point of not being nice Lindsey anymore. The next time someone invites themselves for a free party, I am going to tell them like it is!!!!!

Caterer's, DJ's and Dresses, OH MY!

I am beginning to think back to being a little girl and picturing my wedding. It's funny, because when I was younger my wedding seemed like a distant dream and now it's only 7 months away!!! I also think it's funny that when you are dreaming about your wedding, you don't really consider all of the work and planning that goes into it.......although most of it is fun, it can be exhausting and stressful. I am so thankful to have the best fiance, Mom, family (hi Jordan!), soon to be in-laws and of course friends. I don't know what I would without all of them!

As for the update, we have chosen our caterer. Morrison's will be doing the food. We are going with a heavy appetizer set up, which basically means that there will be 10-12 different appetizers on tables and being passed around. I like this set up the best because I LOVE appetizers, and also because I feel like people will be able to graze and drink and visit and dance and graze without having to worry about waiting in a long line for their dinner! Some of the appetizer selections will include (but will not be limited to) prawn cocktail, crostini, sliced tri-tip, fruit and stuffed mushrooms.

The DJ thing is becoming a little daunting. I really wanted the DJ that did my cousins wedding in June to do ours, but he is already booked for May 31st, so that is out. I called a local guy who has done several weddings at our venue, and he was very nice (I've also seen him DJ at other events and like his style). However, I'm beginning to learn that you get what you pay for, and he is a little expensive. The main thing about our DJ is that they are going to need a silent generator for the ceremony as it will be held on top of a hill in the middle of a vineyard.......I'm going to make some more calls this week to other DJ's and equipment rental places.

Last but not least (and quite frankly, the most exciting thing!), is that I have found my dress. It's a little hard to describe, but overall it's a satin material that is a sheath style. It just so happens that the bridal shop here in town has it and will order it for me. They also do all of their alterations at no charge when you purchase a dress from them. I think it will be super convenient to be able to go for my fittings here in town rather than all the way to Sacramento or the Bay Area.

That's the update for now. Hopefully soon I will have some news about save-the-dates and favors (my cousin may have convinced me to do them, but I will be recruiting her for help!!!).

Things to check off the list!

What a busy weekend!!!! It started with Matt and I going to look at RH Phillips as a possible location for the ceremony and reception. Upon arriving, we were immediatly "sold". There is a hill that is beautifully landscaped and overlooks the valley for the ceremony - our pictures are going to turn out great!! Another plus was that the date we wanted was available, so May 31st is the official date!

After going to RH Phillips, my Mom and I did a little shopping. It was a very productive trip, and we got all of the gifts for my bridesmaids as well as all of our centerpieces!! (Check, check!)

We also found someone that will marry us. His name is Paul and he is a friend of Matt's Dad. We have met him before, and have seen him marry another couple and like his mello attitude.

Last but not least, some of the girls and I went shopping yesterday. I am beginning to HATE shopping for a wedding dress as a lot of the "in" styles right now are hideous! Needless to say, I did not find my dress, but I did pick out a bridesmaid dress.

All in all, I feel like for only having been engaged two weeks we have gotten a lot done. The next things on my list are a caterer, a DJ and the honeymoon!

A few details...

So we looked at our first venue option last night. It did not turn out as well as I had hoped. The venue was Wild Horse Golf Club in Davis. Matt and I were super excited to go and see it, as the pictures that were posted on their website looked great, and the prices we had been quoted were unbeatable! Well, upon arriving we first looked at where the reception would be held. It was an indoor/outdoor space, with a beautiful covered patio and a nice view of the golf course. Now the disappointing part was that there wasn't really any where to have the ceremony. Our options would be to have it at the edge of the patio, no aisle as our guests would sit at the tables set up for the reception (I want an aisle!!!!). The other option would be to have the ceremony on a patch of grass located behind the golf cart garage. Now, this would be acceptable, but along the edge of this patch of grass is a golf cart path......we really don't care to have golf carts zooming by as we say our vows!!! So, all in all, it was a nice thought but after having seen the site in person and getting all the details I don't think that this will be the spot. We are meeting with an event coordinator at RH Phillips tomorrow and are also looking into the Yolo Fliers Club.

On a separate note, we have chosen our wedding colors to be black and white. The flowers will be red and yellow. I like the idea of black and white because I think it will look classy. And I have chosen Calla Lillies as the type of flower.

It's started.....

So it finally happened....Matt and I are now engaged! Starting from the beginning, we had been planning to take the boat out on October 6 just the two of us and I was super excited! Not because I thought anything like this would happen, I was just ready to relax. Well, we did go out on the American River and that's where he popped the question. He got down on his knee, pulled the ring in it's box out and asked, "Will you make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife?" I was so excited and surprised that I didn't even answer until he said, "Well will you?". Of course I said yes!

And now, it has started. The wedding planning. It's really kind of fun for the most part, and so far I really do not think that I am a Bridezilla, I can only hope that it stays that way. Right now we are hoping to set a date for the end of May 2008, but ultimately it will depend on where we decide on for the venue. Better hurry up and make some decisions, if May is the time then we only have 8 months!!!
