Playing Catch Up

Haven't blogged in far too long. Some days I feel like it's lack of material, and others I just don't have a minute to spare! I'm hoping to catch up a little today. I have a family vacation to dish on, some school stuff to chat about, a dilemma at work, and if The Foster Family puts up a Wish List Wednesday I want to participate!!

And to make this entry a little less mundane, here is where I'm hoping to go tonight with my friend Shara...

The Davis Farmer's Market!!! Lots of yummy treats for sale and I can't wait to sink my teeth into a tri-tip sandwich for dinner. I hope to go for a run tonight once it cools off too. I did end up getting my name drawn to run the Nike Women's Half Marathon in San Francisco in October (longest run on sentence EVAH!).

Another Weekend Recap

My weeks are the same, but weekends are fun!!!

Friday: BBQ at a friends house. Home early-ish. It was nice.

Saturday: Bike crawl 2010. We had 5 participating houses that we stopped at. Each house had beverages, a snack and a game to play. One house had a pool instead of a game : ) We started at 12:00 and ended at about 7:00 at the last stop to BBQ and finish out the night. Fun, fun times!

Sunday: Boating at the lake with family and friends. Always a good time.

Weekend Recap

Had a really good weekend. Here's what we did...

Friday: impromptu BBQ with our neighbors. Always have a great time with them.

Saturday: shopping with my Mom. We hit up a local produce stand, went to Ross where I found some great bar stools, and had lunch. Love those mornings with my Mom. I took a nap Saturday afternoon and then Matt and I took the boat to the river with our friends Cody and Joel. We ended the night at Sara and Justin's house with pizza and peedro.

Sunday: Lazy morning followed by a fun afternoon at baby Laine's first birthday party. Even though it was pretty warm, the food was good and the company was even better. I can't believe that tomorrow marks one year since she was born. Time flies!!!

Aaaaannnd....no pictures because I'm totally lame.

Leaving On A Jet Plane

I get to go for a quick little jaunt to Scottsdale, AZ this weekend. I'm going to visit this wonderful family...

...only this picture was taken over a year ago, and now that precious little baby looks like this

I can't wait to see him and his parents. 5:34 pm this evening can't get here soon enough!!!

Have a great weekend : )

Low Country Boil

Have you ever heard of this? I hadn't. Here's a picture:

I love me some seafood. And I also love me some Paula Deen. So, when I saw Queen Deen make this I figured I should try it. I differed from her recipe a little, but I think either her way OR my way would be tasty!!!!

Paula's way in black and mine in blue:

Ingredients:

Crab boil, 2 teaspoons per quart of water A HUGE pot of water seasoned with lemon pepper and "seafood seasoning" (I found it at my local grocer)
12 red new potatoes  (I used 5 potatoes and it was plenty for two people)
6 (4-inch) smoked sausage link sausage (3 bratwursts)
6 ears corn (2 ears of corn halved)
3 pounds fresh shrimp, unpeeled  (I used about 1/2 a pound - again, it was just Matt and I!)

1 pound of crab meat of your choice - I used snow crab because it was on sale - you don't have to add crab,  but you can if you want some extra yummyness

Directions:

Fill a large pot with enough water to cover all of the ingredients. Add the crab boil (seasonings) and bring to a boil. Adjust the crab boil (seasonings) to suit your taste. When the water boils, add the potatoes and sausage. Cook on medium heat for 20 minutes. Add corn and cook for an additional 10 minutes.  Add the crab and cook for 5 minutes. Add shrimp and cook for no more than 3 minutes. Drain and serve.

This was soooo good and pretty easy to make. Plus, it was something that is a "treat" for us. We ate this on our anniversary because we didn't want to go out and I think we might make it a tradition!!

Memorial Day Weekend 2010

What an amazing weekend I had!! Here's a summary:

Friday night: I got a little Carried Away....Sex and the City 2 with some amazing girls. Love, love, loved the movie. I thought it was way better than the first one, so I was not disappointed. That's pretty good for a sequel!

Saturday: Plans changed from boating with the Allen's to just hanging. We spent some time with some friends, had dinner at a local bar and grill and then went to "fight night". Home by 11:00 ish, which was a good thing!!

Sunday: BOATING!!! It feels like summer officially kicks off every year on Memorial weekend at the river! We were out all day Sunday and it was great to be in the sun, on the water with a beer in hand and great friends all around.

Monday: Our 2 year wedding anniversary. I can't believe how the time has flown by. Guess that means we've been having a lot of fun, huh? I am so incredibly lucky to have found the man that I married. He is truly my BFF and I am so excited to continue building our lives together. I know the future will bring us wonderful blessings. Love you Babe.

I hope that everyone had a great weekend!!! And thank you to all of the men and women who defend our country so that I can do all of the things that I did the last three days!!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!
