The other day, we had a storm roll through. That's kind of unusual for late June in Northern California.
My father in law (the best evah!) decided it would be a good idea to travel into the depths of a valley about 40 minutes away from the town in which we live. There is a customer who has a vacation home way in the middle of no where, you see, and their roof had been leaking. But they wanted it fixed because they were coming up for the Fourth of July.
So my father in law climbed into his trusty Ford. It rained. He made the trek to the vacation home. It rained. He even was able to fix the leak. And it rained. And then he was ready to make the climb down the winding, turning mountain road. But the road was very wet. And he ended up sliding into a ditch and getting stuck. We, being the wonderful children that we are, rounded up two great friends and went to rescue him...
Matt and Nate...ready with the blue mountain can!
Stucky McStuckerson himself!
Me with my orange raincoat!
The rig upon arrival...we think we can get it out!
Operation unstuck begins...
Hooking up the wench...
Matt and Jason talking it out...
At one point, I looked down and realized I had 3 pounds of mud stuck to each shoe. And realized it didn't look good for the rig.
The wench ended up loding it in further.
So we gathered tree limbs to try and drive onto and then over....
That didn't work either, and this is what the rig looked like when we left it...
Matt went back up with Jeff the following day to retrieve the pickup when the dirt was dried out and tacky. It was a success.
The End.
